More Models

Well!  I'm making up for last week's absence with a vengence this week, aren't I?!  I had a couple more young ladies come over this week and model more of my jewelry. I'm wanting various body types, skin tones and ages.  Okay, okay, these girls are close in age.  I'm not done, yet.  I plan to have ladies my age model some jewelry (if I can talk them into it!) and a few younger girls model some stuff for tweens and, maybe, even some cute plastic bits for elementary age girls.  We'll see, that's still in it's infancy, planning-wise.

Anyway, a few pics of the young women who came over Monday night for a session in front of the camera.  I "posterized" them, too, but don't have access to those pics right now ('cause I'm at work... not actually working at the mo'.... obviously)

As mentioned, if you are a follower of my FB page, you got a peek at these before I blogged.  All pics will end up there first, followed by blogging so, if you want to see my models wearing my jewelry, be sure to become a follower of my FB page.  You can get there by clicking the button to the right, over there.  I'll also be working this weekend to do studio shots of the jewelry for close ups which means pulling out my table top studio I got for Christmas and setting it up.  Wish I could leave it out all the time but there's just not room in the Craft Space (I'll put up a pic of my creative space, soon) so, as soon as the studio shots are taken and PicMonkey'd, I'll post those, too.  It looks like I might even make my self-imposed deadline of having my Etsy shop back up by the first week of September.

Jewel School Friends October-Fest

I love October. I have ALWAYS loved October. For whatever reason, it has always seemed to me to be a magical month.  I don't know why, but I always feel like something "special" is juuuuust about to happen all through the month.

Well, it's happening a little early.  Okay, only the promise of it is happening a little early.  Toltec Jewels over at Jewel School Friends wants to have a Challenge to celebrate Autumn and October. I'm SO in for this!  I love to write, so I've got something in mind for that, and I love making jewelry, Autumn and October... Wow! I'm gonna have a ball with this challenge/hop!

So, there are two blog hop/reveals coming up.... the first is this Saturday, the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party hosted by Lori Anderson of Pretty Things.  I'm excited because this is my first time in the BSBP and I got some great beads from my partner.  In fact, once the necklace was made, I went a little nuts with the remaining beads.  There's a lanyard I made for Lorelei & Kristin's Cone Challenge (to see that post, go here), there's all the earrings I made.... I just had a blast!  BUT! You don't get any more than a peek (if you click on the link above) of what occured until Saturday's Big Reveal!

Next, there's the Phantom Of The Opera Blog Hop on Friday the 31st.  I'm excited about that and will be emailing everyone the links to each others site this Friday (the 24th) so we can be sure to get around and see all the wonderful bits of jewelry inspired by the Phantom of the Opera musical-slash-play-slash-opera.  SO excited to see who's done what.

And, finally, I don't have the final models for my jewelry up, yet.  I got the shots taken last night, but what with being busy and more business tonight and tomorrow... well... I might get a pic or two up this evening but I won't have time to really work on them, so, I'll have to put them up on Saturday.  I also have some studio shots to do for close ups of all the jewelry. It's one thing to see how it looks on a live model, and another to get a good, close look at the work or the bead(s), etc.  Don't worry, y'all will get a good, close peek before they go back onto Etsy.

Models and Jewelry

I've decided to try a different approach to selling my jewelry.  Models.  Specifically, live models.  More specifically, some young ladies in my church.  They were kind enough to agree to model my jewelry for the paltry fee of a free pair of earrings each.  Well, it seemed paltry to me, but the young ladies in question seemed agreeable! (lucky me!)  Anyway, here are a few pics (I'll have more on Tuesday)  These are sisters (juuuust in case you couldn't tell) and their mother is Philippine and their father is Lebanese.  Since they were small I've called them "my little Lebaninos." (aren't they beautiful girls?)

As I said, I'll have more pictures by (I hope) Tuesday.  It's another set of sisters from my church. They have three, also, but one recently married so I'm only able to use two.  I'll have photos of them as soon as I'm able.

SIGHTMARES AND DR. BRASSY

So, I did something impulsive last week.  I bought a Sightmare necklace from Dr. Brassy Steamington's Etsy store. Dr. Brassy has some cool Steampunk jewelry and her Sightmares are... well... quite a sight! She's even made some in the not too recent past that glow in the dark! Cool!

Sadly, mine is not a glower.  BUT!  I couldn't resist the one I bought because I think it would go SO amazingly with my Ren-Faire Alter Ego, Zarqa Habiba!  I'm even leaning toward going slightly Steampunk-ish with Zarqa.  I'm not sure, yet.  I want to find some good examples of Middle East Steampunk before I do.

Anyway, just so you can get an idea what I mean, before I show the Sightmare I bought, let me show you my Alter Ego (I had a drawing done a couple of Faire's ago, then I "tweaked" it a bit):

 You know, my first few Faire visits I was just another Faire-goer. Now that I've started using the "tattooes" I've gotten a lot of notice and several people have taken pics of Zarqa.  I think my new Sightmare will add a lot to the character.

Fair Choices Part II

So, here are the other two choices for my photo entries into the Fair.  I'm waffling over the one I showed of the plane, it depends on how it turns out when I print it.  The smallest I'm allowed is 8x10 and I'm not sure what it'll look like at that size.  If it doesn't work, I'll have to pick another.  We'll see.
